Baby Shower Planner

Sometimes the hardest part is where to start. If you’re new to baby showers, or a long-time pro, this checklist should keep you on track.

Start with who and how many you’re inviting…the size of the shower can determine where and when you’re hosting, and so many other factors.

You might decide to check with the parents-to-be (if this isn’t a surprise) to make sure you haven’t left anyone out. Grandma-to-be may not be the guest of honor, but making sure all of the important guests can attend is a courteous gesture.
It's always a good idea to schedule the Baby Shower about six weeks in advance of mom's due date. Babies are known to come at their own schedule, and if you get too close to the due date, baby may decide to attend her own shower!

Want to know the best time of day to host a shower? Ask mom-to-be what part of the day she usually feels her best, and go from there. The time of day will also help you decide on appetizers vs. brunch, snacks vs. lunch, or sweets vs. dinner.
Even if you simply choose a color, the theme can serve as inspiration for decorations and games, even the invitations and favors. Plus, planning and prep are simplified when you narrow your choices into a theme. Talk it over with other co-hosts and see if one of these Baby Shower Themes inspires your shower.
Four games for a two-hour shower is just about right... an ice-breaker plus games in the middle of the shower gets everyone laughing, and still leaves enough time to see mom-to-be, open presents, eat, and mingle. Games are the FUN part for the guests, but maybe not for you! Make it easy on yourself by asking another guest to be the game coordinator and look for a few Printable Baby Shower Games to go along with your shower theme.
What time of day are you hosting, and what are the guests expecting? Entire meals make elegant showers, but if you’re hosting at 2 in the afternoon, guests may be expecting a lighter fare.

Food meant for mingling? Try this…finger foods set at different places the room and beverages at yet another spot gets guests moving around. And please.. include non-alcoholic and decaffeinated alternatives for mom-to-be.
Now it’s time to finalize a guest list so you can kindly send invitations about three weeks in advance, allowing time for the guests to clear their schedules and find that 'perfect' gift.

Inside the invitation, if a game or theme requires guests to bring items to the shower, don't forget to let them know inside their invitation.
